GPE 180-6-G | First installation in the Northern Emirates

Date

A new GPE 180-6-G concrete batching plant is currently being erected in Ras Al Khaimah (RAK). But this project presented a challenge beyond the plant itself. Since February 2026, the closure of the Strait of Hormuz has fundamentally changed maritime transport routes in the Persian Gulf. With the narrow passage effectively blocked, ports west of the strait face major logistical constraints.

A new GPE 180-6-G concrete batching plant is currently being erected in Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) – marking the first installation of this plant type in the Northern Emirates.

The plant is equipped with:

·      5 m³ Sicoma MAO twin-shaft mixer

·      6 × 40 m³ aggregate storage bins with automatic belt feeding

·      2 cement weighers

·      1 microsilica (MS) weigher

·      Fully galvanised steel construction

But this project presented a challenge beyond the plant itself.

Since February 2026, the closure of the Strait of Hormuz has fundamentally changed maritime transport routes in the Persian Gulf. With the narrow passage effectively blocked, ports west of the strait face major logistical constraints.

For GPE, this meant finding new transportation routes for the plant components and adapting our logistics strategy accordingly.

Thanks to close coordination between our teams, suppliers and logistics partners, the project is now progressing on site in RAK.

Another GPE plant. Another challenging project. Another solution delivered.
